Mr. Sherman's father died in 174. He left his family, which was quite independent. Roger was left to take care of his family, his older brother had been removed to New-Milford, in Connecticut. Originally they had been from Newton, Massachusetts.

He commanded a buisness as a show maker. His father was a farmer. He moved to Litchfeild county and had an unusual skill in the science of mathamtics. He was advanced in the science of astronomy, he supplied the astronomical calculations for an almanac published in the city of New York and continued this supply for several succeeding.

Roger Sherman had served in various comitties during The Revolutionaty War, he was elected a representitve to congress, from Connecticut. He had a two year run, his space in the chair had elavated since the begning of his term. He had more knowlage then the average man, he possesed unbending integrity. During the war he had taken on tasks in congress that were tiring and not well desierd by other men on congress.

Experts on this patriot have only told about his ambition and importance in the senate. He was a distinguished part of congress.

He married Elizabeth Hartwell of Sroughton, MA in 1749. They had seven children together, after her death he had married a second time in 1760 to Rebecca Minot Prescott of Danvers, MA. He had another eight children. He was the grandfather of Roger Sherman Baldwin, William Maxwell Evarts, George Frisbie Hoar, Ebenezer Rockwood Hoar and Sherman Day.

In July of 1793, Roger Sherman died of typhoid at the age of 72. He served as US Senator from Connecticut, under the new constitution that he had helped to build the new nation, that he had spent most of his life defending and defining.
